Return to the Garden Workshops in Glastonbury

13th/14th July  Imagination, Transformation and the Tree of Life

In this workshop we consider the capacity of the imagination to bring about transformation, deepening our experience of the kairos moment -the moment when everything changes. Dion Fortune's approach to the the Tree of Life will be used as a model for working with images in the field of the body. We will draw on her work as expressed in the novels Sea Priestess and Moon Magic, in particular focusing on the Fire of Azrael- a way of working with the experience of passage into the deep places of the soul.

10th/11th August The Archetype of the Magician

We will consider the archetype of the magician and the mysterious figure of the Green Man/Prophet who teaches from within the Dream. We will relate to Jung’s notion of the Self, the Wise being who sits at the centre of the Tree of Life. The myths of Merlin and other witches and wizards will be considered as expressions  of this deep archetype. We will look at the embodiment of the magician in the practice of therapy and in our lives. Dion Fortune's approach to the archetype of  the Sun will be considered as a modern expression of this archetype.

t
7th/8th September Working with Archetypes-Arthur, Guinevere and the Healing of the West

Here we will work with the Tree of Life to explore the Arthurian myth drawing on the final stages of Dion Fortune's work which used the story of the Arthur as a description of the healing of the soul. We will consider Arthur as the "Once and Future King" who holds the dream of the restored west
